“Tezabi” definition

The earliest known Gold coins were called “Tezabi” bars. They were originally made by the Lydian Kings of Asia Minor in the 7th century BC.
The methods they used to manufacture ‘tezabi’ bars are still used today and are made by many small ‘backyard’ manufacturers. They are not made to a precise weight but rather upon the quantity of Gold available at that time.
